Acupuncture in San Diego with Eyton J. Shalom, M.S., L.Ac.

My Education and Licensure:

I have been licensed and practicing in San Diego for 16 years. I began my study of Alternative Medicine in 1971 when i became a vegeterian and started an intensive Yoga and Meditation practice that led me to India and Sri Lanka, where i lived for 3 years. I began my study of Acupuncture in Sri Lanka, at Colombo South General Hospital with the renowned Dr. Anton Jayasuria, M.D.. I did pre-medical studies at University of California, San Diego, where i graduated, Magna Cum Laude, in 1988. I received my Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine here in San Diego, in 1992, and was a Professor of Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, and Medical History at Pacific College here in SD for 5 years.

My Practice:

I am an expert in the treatment of Pain and Orthopedic Injury using Trigger Point and Myofascial Acupuncture, as developed by Drs. Travel, M.D., Simons, M.D., and Gunn, M.D. I have an expert knowledge of anatomy and kineseolgy and how different age groups and fitness levels respond to different kinds of injuries, from herniated discs to rotator cuff tears to osteo-arthritis. I combine acupuncture with special Chinese herbal formulas and minerals that speed healing.

I also have a family-based Alternative Medicine practice that specializes in dermatology, allergy, asthma, gastro-intestinal, respiratory, and pediatric disorders. Here i use a unique blend of Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Diet, Nutrition, and Meditation to the root and branch of complex illness.

My Philosophy

I am drawn to healing as a profession because I like to get to the root of things. I understand that healing is a process, and that it occurs in layers; like peeling an onion. I am drawn to Asian medicine because intrinsic to its methodology is the idea that living beings are nature in a microcosm, we treat diseases by treating the whole person. This fits in to my core Spiritual beliefs, and to my enjoyment of getting to the bottom of things. Good doctors are good detectives, good technicians, good gardeners, and good pastoral counselors.

I have been practicing Meditation since 1972 and use that to help you. I also teach meditation, both singly and to groups. You can read more about me at www.bodymindwellnesscenter.com

Yours in Health,

Eyton J. Shalom, M.S., L.Ac
